Hi,
I have done a few patios now, using concrete bases, then five points of wet cement, followed by wet(ish) pointing. They all seem to stand quite solid and I haven't experienced many problems as yet...
The thing I want to check is on the regulations/requirements with regards to building a patio that joins onto the exterior wall of a house. I know that the surface of the patio has to sit at least 150mm under the DPC, and should slope away from the house, but is it ok to lay the concrete base and subsequent slabs right up the the house wall, or should there be some kind of gap or membrane between them. I have seen loads laid right up to the wall, but I'd rather do what you are supposed to do than copy what someone else has done (which may be wrong).
Thanks!
