I got some info on this, but it says the mortar is permeable, so what happens if you have laid your paving on a full solid bed? where can the water go? surely in the winter it will stay in the joint and freeze?
maybe I am talking ballon juice

We laid a small patio last year and pointed it with Rompox Easy in the 'natural' colour. It seemed fine and solid and gave a nice sheen to the flags. However it had a rough textured, porous surface that I worried may attract dirt and moss etc. I recently saw the job again and the joints seem to be collecting crap. The customers are still happy but I wonder how easy it would be to clean the joints given their texture. Will this dirt be lodged? I imagine it will get worse and it spoils the otherwise sound paving. I understand that the 'Easy' line of the product is probably aimed at diy'ers and therefore lesser spec, so I could'nt comment on the other romex jointing compounds, but I'm starting to have reservations about this product. Having said this the area in question is surrounded by a lot of hedges and trees and therefore predisposed to alagae or whatever. I wonder if anyone else has seen this product after a year or so of applying it?

i think you are right slickboy, thing is if you point a patio with a semi dry mix (moist i suppose) 10 yrs down the line its still there intact like the day you left it-ish
all the jointing compounds do seem to get very dirty looking very quick
