Hi, New today and here goes with my first post!
My back yard has a large area of of old hectagonal slabs. I have just discovered they are laid with mortar strait ontop of the old concrete base circia 1963. The slabs were laid approx 1970 my neighbour informs me. They are quite firm with no dips etc and sit at least 6" below dpc at highest point and a nice fall away from house. If it was you, would you simply rip up the old slabs and replace new slabs ontop of this old concrete base? Seems to have lasted 30yrs ok so am sorely tempted to leave concrete base alone... ???
