??? I have never used porphyry stone and am unsure how to deal with it.
My client wants to use it in the area of garden I have designed for her as she has had a porphyry sett path laid. At great and expense. She will not put me in touch with her supplier so I cannot ask them anything about it.
I have learnt that it comes in very random sizes from 200x?? to 600x?? That it should be laid "with the longer length across the eye". Causing all kinds of hassle as I can't just order the sizes I want for a random pattern as she appears to buy it by the ton which includes random sizes!
Next question is how to lay, do I specify a full mortar bed or spot mortar. Are there any other laying specs. I need?
Client has own builders, not landscapers but am told they can do anything as they build houses. However with respect I have been told that before to my cost so this time I am specifying EVERYTHING to cover myself.

Thanks for the link although the paving stones are not the ones. they are very random in their thickness and size. The setts she used were from an Italian quarry, the poor guy laying them had a real job on his hands as they were not graded and were at least 100mm thick!
