Hi All
I am laying my slabs (this weekend) 140 varying sized multi coloured Rivens and have a couple of questions please.
Firstly I intend laying them individually on a bed of 50/50 mixed sand (sharp & pit) mixed with in a 6/1 cement mix. I have prepared the ground with compacted scalpings (0-20mm) from 30 to 90mm deep.
The bed is going to be a mortar mix as I just dont have confidence to lay them on sand, am I stupid? Is this overkill?
Anyway the mix will be a different colour to the joints. I have red pit sand for jointing and the base is yellow. Would it work to "butter" the edges of the slabs as I go along whilst laying the slabs on the other base mix? If it is, can I point and tool the joints as I go along as generally you have to wait for it to go off.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Mike
