Hi All
I will be soon laying a sandstone circle with a small path leading onto/off it. It will be surrounded by grass.
How do i go about laying this after the subbase is in place, since they are off varying thickness.
Could someone recommend a grout, i have been told to use Geofix ?
Also i was planning on edging the circle and path to give a more uniformed look, could someone advise a reasonable edging stone which won't give gaps around the circle, the colour is similar to Mint Fossil.

Use various depths of muck (not too wet).Use a dry mix for grout. Grout is just to stop crap collecting between your slabs. Edging stone, how long is a piece of string?

I was thinking of using clay pavours to edge circle and curved path as this would tie in with the rest of my garden.
Would it be possible to cut pavours in half in order to accomodate these curves ? Or would this give me an unprofessional look.
Anyone any experience of this ?

GeoFix is more trouble than it's worth. See the Pointing Case Study on the main website for a far superior method, and do a search in this forum for the long list of problems with Geo-bloody-Fix.
When flags are of a variable thickness, you need to use the individual bedding method as described on the main website

Thanks for the advice peeps, WILL NOT be using Geofix now.
Using a coloured mortar to joint looks really good, the only hesitation i have is it 'bleeding' since it is quite light (fossil) sandstone.
Has anyone just used the same mortar to bed and joint this colour stone with good results - as it shows in one of the tutorials.
What is a recommended colour to go with fossil mint or just used stansdard mix ?

I prefer dark coloured pointing mortars with light-coloured flags. If you keep the pointing mix very, very stiff, there should be no problem with staining. Thos elight grey flags featured in the case study for pointing are very, very pale, and they suffered no staining at all (although they were pointed by a master!)

One more question before i place my order. I will be running a curved path in mint fossil setts. Is it the same procedure for grouting circle as this would seem very time consuming. I have some black cement colourant available from previous job so i will use this. Has anyone got any pics they could 'up' showing a dark grout on setts ?? Everything i have looked at is light/buff...Would it work with the setts ???

Here's an image of golden/yellow granite cubes pointed with a darkish mortar. The setts are the nearest in colour I could find to those in your picture. The mortar, Sue Cleugh will be pleased to hear, is Easipoint with a liquid black pigment added during mixing....
