Hi There,
With the help of this site I'm nearly ready to complete my first paving project.
Problem is I don't know how much mortar I will need for the joints!
I don't want to order too much and end up with loads left over, but then again I especially don't want to order too little so I can't finish the job!

The patio is approx 3m x 4m, with random sized flags (patio will be constructed using two of these kits:) Image

Joints will be approx 10-30mm wide

Any idea how much I will need to order?

Also, can anyone recommend a good supplier of black dyed mortar mix in the Leeds / W. Yorks area ?

Thanks for any advice

Hi

If you let me know the depth of the joints I can work out quants for you and also put you onto a supplier of Black Easipoint in Leeds.

If you want to mix your own pointing mortar, then for 12 square metres of that type of paving...

Washed Building Sand 60Kg approx
Ordinary Portland Cement 1 bag @ 25Kg (use 15kg)
Optional Mortar Dye 1 Kg

...there are too many variables with riven stone (and even with riven-effect concrete) flags to be accurate, but the above 'recipe' is usually correct to within 10kg
