My Mother was approched earlier this week by a firm called Tarways Road Resurfacing Division with a Fife address.
She has an existing drive (some sort of tarmac with large stones in the surface - no idea what!) which was mossy and starting to break up. He quoted £1200 fir a hot tar spray and asphalt sealing. She accepted and they did the work on Thursday.
Thursday PM I came round to find the drive in its current state - which I dont think is good.
After burning off the moss, and clearing the debris they did spray something hot from the back of a tanker on the drive, they then spread a reasonable layer of what I assume is asphalt.
The surface - a day later now is still very loose. They did not roll it, and it was not hot while they laid it.
I am quite concerned that they have not done a full or correct job. She has spoken to them since, and they said it did not need rolling and it would settle and harden in a few days - but I doubt it will. Still very loose and I would expect some binding to be happening already, but I can stick my finger down to the existing hard surface with relative ease.
Could anyone here offer some advice please? I could supply pictures - but it will be Saturday PM before I can.
Thanks
Russell.
