I have to lay flat some headstones in a cemetery job so they are safe and can be mown over. What base should I use underneath, obviously the ground is disturbed and I want the 'laid flat' headstones to stay put and not crack??
I was thinking a 30-40mm semi dry mix (4:6:1). Depth is also an issue as we do not want to be exhuming any bodies!!!! :(

40mm of a semi-dry mix will not be adequate. That sort of bed is fine for foot traffic on a patio, but for a cemetery with motorised mowers you'll need at least 100mm of ST1 (1:3:6) concrete.

I wouldn't worry too much about uncovering any remains - they're usually much deeper than that! We had a maintenance contract for a private cemetery for several years, and even the most cack-handed, disaster-prone, thick-as-porcine-excrement apprentice let loose with a mini-digger never managed to disturb any bodies.
