Hello,

I wish to lay two slate slabs over my uneven and ugly concrete hearth. The slabs are Mongolian Midnight from Pavestone and measure 900 X 600 mm and a woodburnging stove will stand on top of them.

What mix should I bed them on and should I use the same mix for pointing the joints which I anticipate to be 10 to 15 mm?

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Bed them using a Class II mortar mix (4:1) and you can use the same mix for pointing
