Hi there great site. Could i joint my indian stone with pitch? would it stain the flags if it was spilt on them? and would i need to first fill joints with sand then pour pitch on top?

Thanks for any help

i always use geofix, it comes in a vaccumed packed bag, when opened it looks like playpit sand, u brush it into the joints, compact it with a flat iron, brush in again, then joint it with a jointing iron, brush off excess and voila...job done...you have about an hour to work with it before it goes hard, comes in buff and grey colours, buff looks great on all slabs, try your local builders merchant for more info.

Thanks Telvis, does this Geofix make a strong bond and can it be jet washed in future?. Thanks for any help.

Geofix? Bloody rubbish!

It bonds only to itself, and not the edges of the flags/setts, and so it is just a joint filler, not a jointing compound. It is notorious for flicking out and I wouldn't expect it to last more than a couple of washes if you rely on a power washer.

There are polymeric products that do actually bond to the edges of the paving joints, and are therefore less likely to come loose and disappear. I particularly like Romex, which is beginning to appear at more and more outlets in Britain and Ireland.

However, to go back to your original question; there's no reason why you couldn't use a bitumen/pich. Sett Joint, from Colas, has been used on a good number of 'flagged' projects and generally gives good results.
