Hi
I have never laid a flag in my life and tomorrow I am starting a small patio using 450 mm stoneflair modena flemmish flags.
We have pea shingle down at the moment where we are putting the patio and the supplier told me that provided it was "fairly" compact i could lay the flags on that using a wet 4:1 mix with the 5 blob method. I have now discounted that advice and come on here for some tips.
Should I remove the gravel, down to the earth??
What should i lay the flags on? 4:1 wet, 4:1 dry?, 10:1 dry? what?? i am confused
Should i butt the flags up or leave a gap? if butting them up should i put mortar between them?
it will only be for light foot traffic and a bit of lounging about supping tea
as i say i am a total beginner so any advice is will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dave
