hi

I have seen on the site, page 'Random Paving Layouts'. Reference made to the two main rules. One of which is, 'never have 4 corners meeting'. Does this also apply to the chequerboard pattern, or any other similar pattern, on page 'decorative flags'. I am laying 900 x 600 flags in a kind of random pattern, i.e. not chequerboard but similar.

Many thanks :)

No - the "Avoid four corners" rule (I say rule, but I created these 'rules' - it's not as though they're carved in stone somewhere!) only applies to RANDOM layouts. If you're using a chequerboard layout, then you MUST have 4 corners meeting, otherwise it's not a chequerboard pattern!

It's all but impossible to lay just one size of flag in a 'random' layout.
