Just about to embark on laying a new patio. I plan to screed bed about 33 square metres, and use the cement/grit sand based bedding mix. Is there a maximum working time with this bedding mix (assuming it will set at some point) ?

Thanks
Ade

If you use it semi-dry, with no added water, then at this time of year, you should get around 2 hours before it becomes "flaky". It won't go rock hard, but it does become less compactable. You are much better off waiting for a cooler day - in overcast conditions when the temp is below 22ºC you can get 4 hours.

If you use moist mix, reckon on around 60-80 minutes, and, if you use a wet mix, then you'll be lucky to get more than 45 mins.
