Hi Tony.
Brilliant website, just what I have been looking for.
I am about to cover 25m sq area with Bradstones Old Riven paving, using 300x450, 450x450, and 450x600mm slabs they are 35mm thick. I am really after a bit of encouragement !
Is 10:1 ratio of Sharp sand and cement ok ? I am tempted to use more cement as it "feels" like it maybe more stronger screed bed, but happily take your advice.
Also if I lay flags leaving 12mm gap can I just use dry mix of the same sharp sand and cement but with ratio of 4:1 ? Do I need to butter the gaps in each flag ? Also at sides of the patio, should I use a mortar around all the sides to make slabs secure ?
Have worked my way through alot of the website but just want to make sure I am going to do this right.

10:1 is fine - what would be the benefit of using a stronger mix?

You can use a 4:1 mix to joint, but you get a better finish if joints are buttered.

Flags ate free edges are best laid on a damper/wetter mix - see Laying to Free Edges page
