Protecting the sub base if it rains?

Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

I'm hoping to get as much of my paving layed over the long weekend as I can, but at 23 square metres I might be pushing it.

If I only get the sub base layed is there anyway I can protect it from the elements? Knowing the weather at the moment I'll get a couple of dry days followed by a week of rain, which I'm sure won't do the sub base much good.

Many thanks

Don't worry once the stone is down and compacted a drop of rain won't hurt it.

my exposed sub base has stood up perfectly fine to a couple of heavy storms of the last two days
