Expansion joints - Are they needed?

Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

Hi, I'm planning laying flags, on a flexible bed, between pool coping and a brick retaining wall. A distance of 1200mm. If the paving is then locked together with sand, do I need to place some sort of expasion joint between wall & paving? Or will their be enough free movement so my coping tiles don't pop off. Thanks for your help.

At only 1200mm wide, there's absolutely no need for any expansion joint.
