hi all

i just like to know how you guys lay your slabs i use semi dry screeded but i have seen screeded sand used and also wet bedding.

i seen on a tv program that they used compacted sand screeded with a sprinkle of cement on top what you think of that.

Tool

p.s i have also started using 50 mm of blindings compacted and then screed 50 mm semi dry on top it works a treat

I've never understood sprinkling cement over the top of a sand bed. What is it supposed to acheive? It isn't properly mixed into the sane, so it can act as a binder: what usually happens is it gets stuck to the base of the flag, and so is the perfect example of something being neither use nor ornament.

I prefer screeded bed for flags of a regular thickness, but many of the riven stone flags are so irregular that individual bedding is the only viable option.
