Hi all,
Had our driveway PIC in June (ish) and was really happy with it. After around 8 weeks we noticed that the sealant had lifted in a few places, mostly where the car tyres had been, but also on the areas which are used the most. Phoned the company who promptly sent one of their lads round to reseal it.
This was fine for about another week or two but then patches started appearing again. Had another two coats of sealant applied but the problem is getting worse all the time. Had visitors a couple of weeks ago who left their car on drive for one night and have now got a permanent reminder of their visit with four lovely tyre treads! Last time company came round they left me with a tub of sealant to touch up myself but I'm now reluctant to do this as it's not making any difference.
I'm told by the company it's a problem with the acrylic sealant and it's happening to other companies using this but the sealant manufacturers are apparently denying this.
Has anybody got any advice as to what my options are on this one? It cost us a bob or two so we'd like the job to be looking right for a while longer yet.
Thanks in advance
Russ

Sounds like bollocks, but what's the name/brand of the sealant involved?
From this distance, I'd suspect that the original sealant didn't penetrate properly and was only applied as a single coat and subsequent attempts to reseal have used an incompatible product or the surface was not cleaned prior to re-application.

It's PermaPave acrylic sealer.
When the initial installation was done the drive was washed down two days after printing. The missus said there was soap suds everywhere and the drive was then rinsed down with a pressure washer. Then left for another two days to dry. Given one coat all over then as soon as it was walkable, given another coat.
We have seen quite a few other drives in the area that the company have done and there is only one of these which we know is having the same problem. All the others appear to be fine.
