Hi there

Now that we've turned all Autumnal (you know rain, wind, fog, leaves & sweet wrappers blowing everywhere!) I'm still left with 28 square metres of pointing to do around my newly laid Greyfell. I'd really like to darken the mortar but realise we just won't have any guaranteed dry spells left this year that I can safely chance a dyed mortar not staining. The question now is.. is it ok to leave the pointing till next year or is that too long? If so it looks like I'll have to go with a normal mortar mix and lose my dark framing effect. Any advice would be great. Thanks for the great site.

If we get a dry day or two, go for it, even if you can't get all of it done in one go. As long as you remember the specific 'recipe' for the mortar mix, particularly the amount of dye used, then you should be ok even if there's a gap of a week or two between attempts.

Thanks Tony

Guess I've not got any excuses now.
