The attached image shows Slabs, pebbles and Sets layed in a pattern. How is the bedding layer constructed for such a path?

I want to make a path that is simillar. Do I need to do anything special to prevent the sets or slabs from moving?

An added complication is that part of the path will go over boggy land !

The simplest way would be to lay everything on a sand/cement bedding layer.

I'm assuming the setts are thicker than the flags, so the setts will need to be on at least 30mm of the bedding. This can be the 10:1 grit sand/cement mix that I advocate. The flags will then go on a much thicker bed, so it's important all that extra bedding is compacted by trampling before placing the flags.

Finally, the gravel/slate mulch is scattered over the top of the bedding that remains uncovered.

The key thing to watch is that some of the bedding will need to creep up the sides of the setts and flags to prevent them moving laterally. Other than that, it's all very straightforward.

As for the bog, dig off as much as you can, within reason, then use a geo-membrane to keep the cement-bound bedding separate from the quagmire beneath.
