Hi, just found this forum and hoping for a bit of advice. I'm doing a London garden for some people who are laying a pale (almost white, in fact) limestone floor in the kitchen leading onto the garden. They want to use a stone outside that will resemble this fairly closely, but which might hopefully be a bit cheaper. Also the limestone they're using inside has quite a smooth finish and I'm concerned it may become slippery, although the supplier has apparently said it's suitable for external use.
Can anyone recommend a source of very pale stone slabs at a reasonable price? Failing that, concrete slabs might be a possibility. Someone suggested Blanc de Bierges - does anyone have any experience of that?

Have a look at Westminster Stone range, they have recently introduced a re-production travertine slab, all the charater of the real thing but cheaper and not as likly to go slippy over time.
There is a link from this site i think. or give them a call - 01978 710685.

Blanc de Bierges is a very pale buff colour, and quite expensive. It also tends to get very dirty very quickly. It's a "hand-finished" concrete paving system, incorporating flags, blocks, steps, and lots of other bits and pieces. It's not really the sort of stuff you'd use for a residential patio.
Other than the Westminster products mentioned already, Bradstone do an imitation French Limestone flag by the name of Gironde, which you may or may not find convincing, depending on the condition of your eyesight.
There are some very pale imported flagstones, such as the "Mint" range, which you can get from suppliers such as Rock Unique in Sevenoaks.
They can also supply limestone flags but we tend not to use these very often in Britain as we are blessed with a much wider range of paving products. Limestone, being relatively soft and easily stained, is usually a 'last resort' for British pavements. It's popular in France and parts of Spain because they've nowt else, but I like to think we've more sense. :)
I'd probably go with one of the pale flagstones.
