Hi Folks,

Quick bit of advice if possible, just laying an indian stone slab floor in kitchen and utility etc on house extension.

Customer wants floor sealing, but not to alter appearance of stone too much.

Will be pointing with geo-fix ( as inside ) and hopefully seal over the lot.

Any suggestions as to best product to go for, suppliers if possible and recommended time before sealing.

try ringing Richard Rogers on 01539488117 (Cumbria) we got a sealant of him and used it on indian stone and geofix and it worked well,, it does darken the appearance of the flag slightly but nothing to worry about, what colour flag are you using. Alan @ Prestige Landscapes.

We are laying Autumn Brown ( or so called )slabs - but client lighter shades of range, so we picked certain crates and bought in twice the quanity to be able to pick out the right ones.

Looks ok at moment - will be geo-fixing tomorrow so should look better then.

Let us know how it goes with the GeoFix, too, as we've seen dozens of reports from clients who are seriously unimpressed with the results.

Obviously, I don't get to hear of all the jobs that go well when GeoFix is used, but I always think that while one or two bad reviews is average for any product, 20-odd since January is worrying.

How were the flags from nw.? in reply to Tony we have been using geofix for a while at first it seemed great as it does to everyone who has just started using it, then it started deteriorating, so we started to seal it and as of yet (12 months) it seems to have worked, the sealant seems to stop dirt build up, which i am sure is the cause of deterioration. Has anyone else done this and what were the results. Alan @ prestige.

Flags from NW were actually pretty good. Size and thickness consistancy ok, but crates were hand picked !!
Colour variation though was far beyond what we would normally expect, to label it as Autumn Brown is stretching it a bit.

Having said that client loves the result, now sealed over with very matt sealer.

Now wants to extend to whole patio / terrace etc.

With regard Geo-fix, Tony, I would agree with Alan. We have mixed views, great to start but no good outside after a few months to a year, goes black and dirty, and can't be cleaned easily.

Was happy to use as above inside building, also we use large amounts on paving display areas and show stands etc, where short term quality is all important. It seems to polish the paving a bit too, ideal for showing it off.

Never had any problems with it lifting or coming loose, although we do tend to point it in hard, rather than brush and pipe as recommended.

Could not agree more geofix is the best thing since sclided bacon butties in the short term but is not reliable in the long, but i am growing more convinced with tme that sealants make all the difference if my opinion changes i will let you know. Alan @ Prestige.
