Hello great website

bought 32 bradstone old riven, autumn gold £3.87 each. (450x450x38mm)
there are random marks on all the slabs, the marks are like a buff colour (totally different colour) with a bit of grey on them, the marks vary in size from 6" x 2" to small 1/2" roundish, I thought they must be scuff marks, but if they were scuffs, they should be just on the highpoints of the riven, I scraped on the back of a slab with a blund knife, it looked like the original colour is just a thin film of powder on the surface, and a totally different colour underneath. one slab has a chip of the corner and this is the same colour as the marks on the face of the slabs. should the colour be uniform throughout its depth (if a slab was boken in 2). I been in contact with the BM, who said they will try and get somebody to look at them, but i would like your opinion, wether it's a mould/dye/scuffing fault, so i don't get fobbed off. all the slabs where stacked on edge on a pallet with wooden sides, the slabs were not "tie banded" as they are when the BM recieves them, only the wooden sides of the pallet where lashed.

any advice would be welcome.

PS there are no marks on the edges!

thanks steve

..it's a very low res image, so it's not particularly easy to tell but they do look like scratches. However, I'm not sure about them weathering-in as quickly as your man suggests. I'd get him to put that in writing so that, if the marks are still highly visible in, say, a month from now, his company will be prepared to replace them and reimburse any costs incurred by yourself.

Thanks Tony
The BM are replacing them 4 June.
I also phoned Bradstone cust serv, whom also said they should weather-in, but in about 6 months if they're scuff marks, she said the more it rains and dries the slabs will weather-in quicker.
Anyway thanks for all help.
I'll see what the replacement batch are like.
