Hi total new here so stand by for silly questions.... i am thinking of laying a patio using marshalls heritage, but was wondering if they suffer from standing water due to the pattern.
cheers

I think you mean the 'surface texture' rather than the pattern - the fact that they have a heavily riven-like surface. The term "pattern" refers to the layout of the flags, and can be coursed, random, dutch, herringbone etc. However, I know what you mean.
All riven flags do tend to 'pond' slightly after rain. The more heavily riven the texture, the more likely the flag is to hold water. However, if the flags are laid to adequarte falls (1:60 is about the minuimum I'd accept) then any surfcae water retained by the riven surface is minimal and will evaporate or soak away in less than an hour.
This small quanity of short-lived standing water doesn't do any damage: at least, not any that you'd notice with the naked eye over the lifetime of the product, but it can encourage algae to colonise those shadier/damper parts of the flags.
The key point is that the flags must be laid to adequate falls. If they are laid too flat, the standing water issue becomes a big problem.
Incidentally, this phenomenon is exhibited by ALL riven flags, to a greater or lesser degree, not just the Marshalls' Heritage.

As long as she doesn't change your chosen flag, now that I'm halfway through completing the layout design!
