Help, reinforcements required. I'm having a debate with a "builder" on www. channel4.com/community 4homes forum who thinks spot bedding is a good idea. I've quoted all Tony's reasons at him, but he doesn't seem convinced. I've even asked him where he left his horse!

If I get time, I'll barge into the dabate in my usual heavy-footed way, after I've had me tea this evening.

Whilst on the subject, I just got a catalogue from Stonemarket (after seeing their coping stones on your web sites) and notice that they advocate spot-bedding in their paving section. You need to have a strong word with them!

It's been mentioned, on more than one occasion, in my discussions with Tom Poole, the CEO of Stonemarket. However, they like to present the idea that flagging is easy rather than showing how to do the job properly.

The good news is that a couple of manufacturers have asked me to prepare something for future publications showing how paving really should be laid by a professional, so maybe, when they see which way the tide is flowing, even old luddites like Stonemarket will eventually repent and mend their ways. Eh, Tom? ;)
