Hi Everyone,
I just need some advise on gravel, hope someone can 'fill me in' haha!

After looking around at different types of block paving and stuff for our new driveway I've had a revelation.
I really want a gravel drive!
....and i think it might actually be cheaper!
....and we can probably do it ourselves.

Just a few questions then:

Is Subgrade the same as just the dirt/topsoil? and does this need to be conpacted first with a wackerplate?

Is the Subbase the same as Hardcore and how thick does it need to be?

And lastly what quantities do we need to get? whats the coverage for example for 1tonne of gravel? The supplier didn't seem to be able to tell me.

The area is about 115 sqm, and slopes slightly down away from the house ( is this a problem?)

Oh, and what about weeds? don't you need some sort of membrane underneath to stop this?

Sorry! So many questions!
Hope someone can help, and thanks in advance for anyone taking the time.

Cheers,
Louise Malone
