Tony,

Forgive me if this is already on the site, but wading through all the information on this site takes time, as im sure everyone appreciates.

I have a friend who works for Marshalls and she can print out paving patterns when using multiple size slabs. It gives all the cuts etc. It is a real handy piece of software. I was just wondering whether it is possible to put something like that on this site, because as i am sure you are aware, it is a bugger to remember the pattern when working with 4 or 5 different sized slabs.

Kind Regards

Scott

Is that the "Streetscape" plug-in? That's the only one I can think of.

Anyway, I have two problems providing a pattern calculator on the site. the first is the sheer cost. Since being permanently crippled by the incompetent buffoons at <spit>Warrington Hospital, I run this site as a hobby, out of me disability money, and I couldn't afford to fund a piece of software that costs several thousand quid to develop and produce.

Secondly, producing a program that can deal with unlimited parameters (by which I mean layouts, flag sizes, obstructions, etc.) is a major undertaking. Most of the so-called random pattern generators are not truly random and can only work wih a limited number of 'products'. So, the Bradstone offering only does the Bradstone flags (although, where sizes are identical, you could 'cheat' and use some other manufacturer's flags) and the Streetscape (which I haven't played with for about 3 or 4 years, now!!) only 'did' the Marshalls stuff.

I have put a few random layouts on the site, and I have plans to extend the coverage given, but, as the site has grown so much over the last 12 months(100,000+ visitors per month), and I seem to spend most of my time answering the 120+ emails I get each and every day, it's becoming harder and harder to find the time to prepare and add new material to the site.

Having said that, there are some new pages almost ready and they should start appearing over the next couple of weeks. One of them does touch upon the subject of flag patterns, but I've still a number of drawings to do, so I can't say exactly what will be featured or what won't.

You'll just have to keep visiting the site! :)
