I have the task ahead of me to relay all or at least part of my front path. It is subsided in a few places and high in others where it has been relaid on wet concrete following excavation for a new water pipe. The tiles are Ruabon red 1" thick and maybe 6" square circa 1925. I will clearly have to leave the concreted ones in situ or scrap them. I can get identical tiles easily enough from salvage merchants.
What would be the best materials and method of laying them and would it be a false economy to leave the 20% that are on solid concrete undisturbed if the are suitably placed?
The original bed seems to have once been sand, but looks like garden soil now.
