I have my heart set on a curved patio to sit alongside my lawn as I don't want formal, geometric patterns in my garden. I have chosen 600 x 600 natural peacock slate slabs but the company who sells them won't cut any curves into them. Is there anywhere near Guildford, Surrey that I can take my 6 slabs to when I've drawn in the curve so that they can be cut to fit my design?

I hope someone can help me soon so that I don't have to change my design!

Many thanks in advance

I'm not overly familiar with Guildford or its environs, but there are a couple of options you might want to explore further.

There are often specialist brick cutting companies in every major town. A decent local Builders Merchant should be able to advise, or you'll find them in Yellow Pages. These companies normally cut bricks and may not be tooled up to cut flags, but it's only a 'phone call to find out.

Alternatively, any decent paving company will have a diamond-bladed cut-off saw and would be able to cut the flags to your design. Whether they'd want to is another matter, but again, a 'phone call will answer that question.

And I've just had another thought - what about Pinks Hill at Woodford Village? They sell a lot of stone for paving and landscaping, but I don't know if any of Mr Derek's operatives are skilled in the use of a stone saw, but a call to 01483 571620 will get you and answer.
