Hi Tony,

Well it's been frustrating but it appears this small country ireland is very limited when it comes to sandstone of different varieties other than grey/yellow/mint!! As you know I had found a stone (Raveena) that I liked and matched wellish with the paving blocks. But even though the retailers say you can get a 3m diameter circle it appears that the distributors wont send it to ireland useless somebody here is prepared to accept a full container load of the stone (not sure it that means all circular designs or all stones of the same colour).

So basically I'm stuck unless I can find some caring distributor who currently exports to ireland who would be prepared to throw into a container what I'm looking for.

I've been given the name of a distributor in wigan, so I might give them a call and see if they can help. Tony, from reading other posts I see that you were in the trade, do you have any advice or would it be too risky to go down this path... If you go to http://community.webshots.com/user/madunphy I have a picture of the type of stone I was looking for? I can get it as rectangle slabs but not the circular. What would a rectangle patio cut to a circular shape look like?

Thanks

Mike

Whereabouts in Ireland are you, Mike? There's stone merchants in Dublin, Belfast, Derry, Galway, Limerick and Cork that should be able to help.

And who's the distributor in Wiggin? That's only 10 miles from me, and, if it's who I think it is, then you're best avoiding them, as most of their stock has been 'acquired' rather than bought, if yer know worr I mean! ;)

Hi Tony,

I thought I'd reply privately as to the name I was given. check your messaging on this website.

Anyhow, I'm in Kildare which as you know is beside Dublin. Since last year I've been looking around a lot of places but with the exception of the Stonebroker in Dakley (see my archived post), the retailers (including roadstone) just stock what they call Mint/Yellow/Grey/A.N.Other for circular patios. The Stonebrokers had a wider variety mostly rectangular, but this raveena apparently is made in the circular pattern but after weeks of ringing etc is appears that either the retailer or the distributor just wont do it for the reasons described above. This country is the pits when it comes to customer service, fine if they cant do it, but why does it take weeks to get the answer.

Do you know of any other merchants I could try? I really need to get moving on this, my deadline is the wedding :-0. I suggested the ractangular slabs cut to the outline of a circle, you should have seen the expression on her face, so I dont think that's a runner.

Thanks

Mike

What about Acheson-Glover? They have an office in N.Dublin - Tel: 01 832 5699 - I know they do a lot of concrete paving, but I'm sure their sales bod told me last year that they were stocking imported sandstone as well as granite, whinstone and slate.

I've just had a email back from my cousin - what about Ryan Stone in Blessington, Co. Wicklow, or Creagh Concrete?

Just rang Acheson-Glover,

Apparently they have no sandstone products

I'm really going to have to have a tidy-up in here - I can't find my Acheson-Glover file anywhere. I've found a single 'Fact Sheet' for their TerraPave stuff, and I've found the business card of the sales director who told me they were doing natural stone, but I can't find the full catalogue!

I wonder if they're not doing Nat Stone from Dublin, or whether they're not doing it at all?

Anyway - what about Creagh Concrete? They carry the Bradstone licence in Ireland, and they might also have the Charcon range of Nat Stone - I only have a number for their Toomebridge plant in the North - 0044 28 796 51201, so that might be 048 796 51201.

There's also P.Clarke in Lisnaskea. They do concrete flags, and they do quarry products, but I can't see if they do Nat Stone flags. - 048 6772 1286

I'll see what else I can find out overnight.
