We have a driveway of about 135 square metres. It has a slight fall down to the road and is roughly a hammerhead. The majority of it is tarmac and has clearly suffered as a result of a previous owner buying some 'tar left over from a local road job'. Needless to say, the skim is peeling off and giving a contoured effect. The base is in good condition. We would like to make one side of the hammerhead more square so that we can put our two cars side by side. This would involve the removal of some grass and the introduction of a sub base. We would also like to rebuild the earth retaining walls as they are of poor quality and have been patched up several times. The walls are currently about 1 foot high reducing to virtually nothing at the top of the driveway.

Anyway, the time has come to think about improving the driveway. We fear that it will cost quite a bit to do a nice job and am interested in considering a variety of options:

A re-tarmac (possibly in red) is one option. We have concerns about the durability of the surface given that the hammerhead will act as a turning point for our two cars (ie. will the turning of the wheels damage the surface?)

Another though is a concrete block.

A third thought is to go for something like Ronadeck or Sureset (we sent an email to Sureset earlier today).

We had considered PIC but, given the adverse feedback on this web site, we would probably do well to avoid this material!

We live in the Camberley area (where Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey join together).

We welcome your thoughts about what might be the best material.

We also appreciate that it is very difficult to give sound advice without surveying the site. If you can suggest reputable tradesmen in our general area that could undertake any of the above, this would be a big help for us. There are so many cowboys and we want to find somebody that can do a nice job for a reasonable price.

Sorry that this post is so long.

Many thanks.

Hello fmfm20j (I bet that's not your real name).

One of our contractors woud be delighted to visit you and discuss Ronadeck Fast Grip and provide a quote.

Just give my office a call on 01279 638700 and speak to me, Donna, Steve, Zoe or Laura and we'll get a local Ronadeck Fast Grip installer to contact you. The contractor can also quote for any additional work needed to provide a larger base, plus other works including most if not all you have listed.

Hope to hear from you.

Regards

Simeon
