SBR / Slurry Query

Hi. Long time since I've been here. I will shortly be embarking on my final DIY project and I want to make sure I get this right as it will have to last me.

Amongst other things, I will be laying approximately 66m2 of Indian Sandstone (Raj Green). Naturally, being a DIY-er, You Tube gets heavily used for tips and tricks. I have often seen videos of professionals extolling the importance of a slurry bond bridge and they liberally coat the bottom of the slab with slurry. However, the slurry that they use appears to be a very thin mixture, almost watery. However, reading articles on here suggests that it should be quite thick and has to be spread on with a trowel.

Can a thin mixture of SBR Slurry be used and will it do the job of bonding the slab to the mortar bed? Or, are these 'professionals' doing it all wrong?

Your help as ever is much appreciated.

This article mentions "creamy consistency" and "thick soup" :
