Dispersal Drain

Hi All,
Quick question, would a dispersal drain connected to a gully on a car park work to take water away from the car park if it was installed to disperse into a field next to the car park? What stops the field from draining into the perforated pipe? How can you tell if the pressure in the pipe will be high enough to ensure that the water flows out and not in?
