Thinking of investing in a block splitter. This looks good. Copied design from the proven probst
Any thoughts?

With that type, the problems I noted when watching them being used in Eastern Germany....
1 - the blade quality isn't brilliant. I saw a blade worn to blunt in a single day of more-or-less non-stop cutting. Easy enough to replace, but with a genuine compatible Probst blade.
2 - bloody fingertraps with that handle coming down on the chassis of the soplitter - need to watch out!
3 - the screw adjuster is a bugger for "silting-up" with dust and shards from the cutting. The team I watched used an oily rag every 10-15 mins to wipe off the thread and keep it clean.
....other than that, it's a very keen price.
Oh - nearly forgot - the wheels/tyres are shite! Some rubber/plastic compound that falls apart too easily when the yoke is pulled across rough ground/broken blocks/shards/etc.
Have a look at what you'd pay for Optimas or Orit - good quality at shockingly keen prices. Also, Karl Dahm, a German retailer of all sorts a damned handy tools.
