Everyone wants these damn fence panels painted dark brown and gates with black ironmongery at the moment. I'm simply not fitting another damn gate with plane headed screws, it drives me insane. They are crap, should no longer exist and the "jappaned" screws are just a bit too thick to so getting locks lined up is a PITA.

Anyone know of the existence of exterior wood screws, black, phillips, 1 inch in length?

Cheers

often wondered this myself
32 mm drywalls are too feeble and spax and fischer are too gold or silver
have you tried doing a 2mm pilot for the japanned screws ?
PITA I know but has worked for me

Drywalls will rust almost immediately and yeah they're too weak.

I will have to do the pilot hole and dare I say it, I will have to use a drill driver and banish the impact driver :O Damn thing keeps bouncing out.

Not a bad alternative. I may buy some and see how green they actually are. I mean, I personally wouldn't have an issue with them on black hinges etc. perhaps some would. Dunno, I'll take a look cos anything is better than those jappaned screws.

Don't think dry wall screws will rust. If they did the plaster would pop.

They rust like buggery mate!

I'm guessing the reason they don't under plaster is cos they're only wet once, until it dries, and there is no oxygen.

I stand corrected. What about stainless, the quality panel /gate makers up here use them.

Yeah I use them generally but I can't use them for black ironmongery. Just wont look right!
