After getting some silly qoutes for 1m3 of concrete I have decided to mix my own. I can hire an 85 litre mixer from HSS for £25 a weekend or a bigger one for a bit more. How many loads will it take to do a metre cubed in the cheaper mixer?

A m3 is 1000 litre so in theory it would take 11 mixes if fully loaded. But in reality more like 15 ish I'd say.

20 is the number of mixerfuls
any less and it wont be a metre

by the way what is a silly price pat?
we pay around £160 +VAT for 1 metre delivered
well worth it

by the way to make 1m3 you need 250kg cement and 2 bulk bags of ballast
that will cost around £135 for starters :)

get it delivered not worth the hassle of mixing it by hand, by the time you have bought the raw materials its only a few pound extra to get it delivered plus saves you half a day mixing and you dont get the problem of the first part setting faster than the last part your filling up so will be easier to get a better and neater finish just dont get it delivered too wet
