Hi all

Can i drive a 10 ton tipper on my car licence ,i passed my test before 1997 ,if anyone can help please .

Nope. you need an hgv licence once you go over 7.5 tonnes

It's split into different classes now,

But grandfather rights are soon to go everyone will gave to do a test for 7.5 ton if they haven't completed a more recent test for 3.5 ton and above

You'll need to do a test to get you upto the next stage after 7.5 ton which is 18 ton rigid

so are you saying Giles,if you have 7.5t on you liecence since you got it ,its being removed unless you take a test, where did you get this from MSH :)

my dads just done a 5 days course for his, you dont loose all entitlement but you do loose towing ability gross train weight goes down to somewhere around 8500kg and yeah you need your cpc etc to keep driving for work etc

theres more to it ill get the infor of the course booklet

You Can if the vehicle is classed as engineering plant (road marking vehicles etc)
