Anyone know what Tractor size/engine requirements are needed to tow an 11 ton loaded trailer?

Will be road use only.

ive towed 18 tons with a 90 just dont expect it to be quick or go up hills in anything but low gear

we run a 175hp john deere 6920s and eventhat complains about hills with 16 ton on the back

if you are not conducting agricultural activity with the tractor this excludes using the tractor to haul a digger to site for ditching etc, the tractor has to be specifically used in the job not just to transport it

then the tractor is treated as a commercial vehicle so you will need

white diesel
operators license
relevant driving license entitlement for the weight 17 ton + artic
insurance
tax and plate(inc trailer)

nightmare if not on agricultural duties ;) good job I've always got some agri work on

Thanks, going to look for a 90hp with a front loader.

Is it not just the jcb fast trac boys running on the main roads that they're looking at for running on red diesel ?

Depends if you get unlucky and where you are we are very rural so lots of tractors around and we have registered farm number with defra etc

I was followed for a bit the other day by road patrol car but the vosa people carries are the ones to avoid,

like giles says depends where you are. my tractor is just a toy realy. i did'nt give much for it and so had to have it. we rent a field for horse's so there is a bit of use and i might use it for work carting soil hardcore etc.
mines got a loader on it aswell. :)
