Its not ideal in comparison but yeah, it stops and pulls, hills are a drag. There are about 15 4x4's that will tow 3.5t and only the newest ford ranger pick up has the best towing capacity of 3265kg i beleive

I mean vosa can say what they like really, if you are operating within legal limits they cant say a thing. Even vosa dont know everything about what they enforce as has been shown time and again. They always stop me and i have to argue the same points etc

Giles check the speck on isuzu's website they can tow 3 tonne mate, i have the brochure here.

Took one out last night, lovely truck, i may get this one on contract hire.

Cookie L200's are an awful machine, my mate owns a mitsubishi dealership also, of which my dad is foreman, and they are just utter crap. Badly built and gutless.

I think know what giles is going to relate to and that is the train weight of vehicle and trailer and in order to stay within that limit and still tow 3.5 tonne then your tow vehicle will have to have the least amount of weight aboard thus making the tow vehicle lighter that what is being towed (tail wagging the dog situation) However there is no actual legal requirement for your tow vehicle to be heavier.

When im towing i carry a pack with all this info in which i gained from vosa themselves over email, just incase i get a tug.

Cookie i just dont like them lol, drive a navara or a hilux and any other truck and you will know what i mean .......bean tin on wheels springs to mind.

I mean, when you shut the door on one its like shutting the door on my brothers 12 year old saxo, fixtures and fittings are the same, engine's are notorius for being toss, i could go on.....not a fan, you must of had a good one?

And the amount of new l200's some literally a few months old that sit on death row at the garage is enough to put me off them.

A manufactures max tow is nothing to do with the law, that's what it will do on a closed test track etc, you will have a max train weight on your vehicle and that's it my navara is 2.7 ton tow manufacturer yet the max train weight is 4700kg so truck weighs 2200 leaving 2500kg add a 800kg trailer leaves about 1.7 ton. If you are towing a kubota kx71-3 with buckets on a plant trailer you are about 3800kg illegal and it's scary I used to do it if you had to stop in an emergency even with a braked trailer you couldn't.

Our 3 ton now only gets moved on the 7.5 ton wagon

You can argue the toss with vosa but it's a 5k fine and 6 points I think

Dave should confirm

Yes - it's a minefield but I'd go with what Giles is saying.

My train weight is 7000kg. Cabstar is 3.5 tonne gross, so I can tow 3.5tonne total., realistically, 2.7 tonne digger on trailer weighing 800kg. That's why I never got a bigger crusher. There is not a light enough trailer to carry the 2.9tonnes machine

Thats because your cabstar is 3400kg gross weight. The single rear wheel model was downgraded to enable it to have an mot at a standard testing station.

If you thought a normal Class 7 MOT station was strict, wait till you have to go through one of these VOSA ATF's.........
