I understand that the stihl ts420 is not well designed with regard to servicing. This coming from a guy who actually predominantly sells them. This summer Stihl will be releasing a fuel injected version for lower emmissions and the like but being the first of this kind it is bound to have glitches and is advisable to purchase the second model. In the meantime I need one so what do I buy and should I buy used?
Cheers

Stupid bloody design with regards to the air filter and the screws.
Less vibration than the older model though.
Couple of threads discussing the matter:
Stihl or husqvarna

Stihl ts 410 is better than the ts 400 IMO, the ts 410 is the same as the ts 420 as far i can see apart from the blade size which is 350mm but the same size engine as the 410?

it would be really nice if stihl started making the ts400 again cause their perrless but the new one they are bringing out looks pretty good. time will tell :;):
i havent used the makita much but i found them heavy and akward to start even with a clean filter
Partner/husqvarnas are alrite if you dont use them much ie roofers or chippys but dont last long with bricklayers and groundworkers.
just my opinion

weve got a right mix love my old ts400 the ts410 got stolen before it got a real test, the partners are good workhorses(we let the brickies use them) the makitas break quick, the husqavana are great on a par with the stihls id say. hilti now make one as well, not had a play as its £750 ouch.

I've always used the Makita stone saws.
Found them less temperamental than stihls.

ts400 and ts410 are brilliant bits of kit. the ts400 is my favourite though. one im using at the moment is getting a bit difficult to start some times cus the filters have never been serivced. but it still runs fine and starts well the majority of the time, cant fault them really. apart from needing the choke to turn them off :p

So it seems the ts410 is the way to go!?
I have to say I love all my stihl hedge trimmers and chainsaws, they are a joy to use. My husqy chainsaw isn't bad but unlike the stihl stuff it revs like a bitch!

+1 for the ts 400. The makita is so heavy in comparison and is therefore almost impossible to make horizontal cuts in a wall for opening etc. Not to mention the filter being junk.

stihl have brought out a new disc cutter with an elctronic on off switch for water control, that is also linked to the speed of the disc. faster the disc, more water.
Looks like a great bit of kit!
