Best cable locator?

I've never used one before but I see many makes and models out there: RadioDetecion / C-Scope / Cable Detection / TomKat etc etc - is there a particular make or model I should be looking to hire or are they all pretty much the same?

I have been buying and selling CAT locators for about 4 years now,but out of stock at moment,I have always found radiodection are the best for use and reliability,

I use a radidectetion mk3 which is the grey colour model,with high leval cable strike alert,

some models have depth of cable built into them which is usefull but not to be 100% relied on MSH

usually a good clalibrated unit i sell for about £250ish

if you use a CAT and GENNY and a direct connection to the service in the box on the wall a MDPE gas can be traced buy sending a induced signal down the pipe.this is not for a the average CAT user you need training in this method but can be done MSH

Yea id be up for that, ive bust two gas mains, there trying to bill me.....thousands, even though they were literally 3 inches underground!

There is a survey equipment place near Chester that does cable locator training. They don't quote prices on their website though which is a shame
