Pricing a job to break out 100m2 of 6 inch reinforced concrete, standard door way access. About 32 tons to come out. So anyone with a micro done a big job how did it perform, I know there a massive difference between or 1.5 ton breaker and 3 ton so is the micro better than beaver pack and vibration white finger?

Its a lot for a power pack by hand, but for my money i would go in with the pecker but make sure its a hire machine, they rattle those small machines to bits. No issue with fumes or have they spec'd exhaust flue?

i don't think its inside,its just a doorway access (i think?)

never used one on a micro, but i gather its more powerful than a beaver.
My beaver has an 8hp petrol engine, the micro has a 10hp diesel so surely it has to be?

Pity you can't get a ripper tooth too. very handy once youv'e cracked the slab for yanking!

2 lads with a compressor and jack hammers would do that in a week ,the rebar would be the biggest ballbreaker

Ive just done a 60m driveway with a micro and breaker, performed very well, managed to break and drag out in a few days. The same machine as DDD btw

is it worth cutting it up before ripping it out, you've only got to go deep enough to cut the rebar? as mr lout points out that is the ballbreaker

weve got a 150mm cut floor saw on a 320mm blade so slicing it up isnt a problem its inside but i was planning on using our 2 big fans to blow and suck (oh er)

id like to get our 1.5 ton in with our krupp breaker as its a beast, but its looking like a hire jcb 0.8 and breaker or compressor and a few days hard work...

ive priced it so if we get it i'll figure it out as we go, thinking compressor might be the way to go, oh my back...

dan on a drive why use a micro not a mini etc?

I've done about 80m with a micro but it was a 100mm reinforced pad. It was an old yard that then had a wall built around it so access was bad. Had a 1 ton tracked skip loader on it to which was hand loaded with the large bits as I worked away at the slab then used the digger to tidy the rest up. Took 1.5 days but I'd at least double that for yours and cutting it into 1m strips would make a huge difference. The machine coped well with it but you couldn't be greedy with the amout you were trying to break they do have a lot more power than a jackhammer though. Those JCB's are truely awful they have decent power but the controls are totally unergonomic and oversensitive and the plastic bodywork breaks if you have a decent fart on it.

Simple reason giles, the 1.5t and the 3t kubotas that we hire are nearly new, and the little micro is an old dog, plus hes only got a breaker that fits the micro, that said they are pretty powerful.
