When we get an influx of new equipment to play with.

Had all our small powered equipment and handmowers taken away for servicing. 38 bits of Stihl kit, plus 9 mowers.

The management had the agric tyres taken off the loader, and put on turf tyres so it can be utilised more (never mind being useless at its principle job, of loading grit, and loading greenwaste skips)

Obviously they ordered the wrong sizes, so they came out to replace them.
Less than an hour work since the agric's came off (oh the irony!!), A week in the garage awaited before it was fixed.

Two spanking new Kubota mowers delivered, one of which is broken already... ignition is knackered.

Then on friday we had the bit of kit we'd asked for for years. A dedicated mower for mowing the many steep banks on Campus.

Then a new roller mower to replace an ancient set of gang-mowers for the sports field.

Next week we've got a full spec John Deere Gator utilty buggy coming, fully paid for the Environmental Society.

Am i correct in assuming thats a nice shiny new Ferris (36inch?) mower you have there Tommy?

You would be correct with that assumption Stuarty. We've only got it on trial for a few days, with a view to buy one after, which is more likely to be the 48' deck, if the trial goes ok. Anything to stop us having to strim the goddamn banks

Ive always preferred the Scags myself, but Ferris mowers seem to be good also. Theres always the Flymo on a rope option for the banks :p

that banks machine could really do with dual wheels to make it more stable and grippy on the steep stuff

Yeah, we did order a dual wheeled machine, but this one was just down the road when it came off hire, so they bought us that one to try.

At my old place, we had HydroWalk machines on single turf tyres, and they would go up banks you cant walk up

Guess who got lumbered with the Ferris? Yours truly, and after nearly two 9 hour days I am practically armless.

Not the easiest controls to juggle, with tired fingers, on steep slopes.

Had the fountain completely restored. Anyone want to guestimate how much it took?

More fun and games for our loader. Bost a pipe on the loader arms. Alas, a big puddle of Hyd fluid.

Dave, we're lucky to have an internal combustion engine, let alone Bio oil. If they had their way, we'd still have steam power...

Anyone fancy a wheelie bin? All handloaded on the back of the van. They are being sold to someone in Ireland for Â£4 a go

Well, I kicked the bin over, then chased the rat with a bit of a pallet, but they are all over the dump/storage sheds, so the Rat-man has been summoned

Well, it's all going off this week. Every bit of new machinery is faulty. The Kubota's are using coolant by the barrel, the Boomer tractor is rattling.

Our apprentice was using the Boomer with the new Roller mower, cutting the rugby pitches, when it stopped and a cloud of black smoke came from the mower.
Sealed bearing on the belt drive to one of the blades is now not sealed, and seized solid.

This is the hired in cricket wicket roller...seriously.

We commandeered it, and with about 200 ton of free planings, resurfaced the track in the dump.

Wont last 3 months, but it's better than nowt

Students gone. Bring in the diggers

New access road to the new Innovation centre phase

Springett's only machine that isnt trashed

Half an hour before knocking off, we get an urgent phone call
Cant see from the photo, but the standing other section of the trunk was twisting in the breeze

Rush job to chop it up, and get it off the road, while the tree surgeons were called in to fell the remaining section. I personally wouldnt have re-opened the road, but hey ho,
