Hi, does anyone know of a supplier of mini concrete crushers in the Preston area? And would it be worthwhile for about 5 tons of rubble as the access is crap and I need a base for a patio which is only about seven metres from the rubble which needs shifting anyway. The smallest machine possible would be good and an idea of costs as I've never hired one before.

hi mate

my machine goes through 700mm. Is that small enough?

I can find out if i can cross hire you one through my suppliers

pm me your address and details of when you might want one and I will get a quote

as top wether its worth it, your choice is barrow all rubble from site. fill a skip. buy crushed, barrow it all to the back again.

Or pay to hire a crusher, and make your own.

I know what i would do!

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I don't suppose anyone knows where I could hire one of these in the Birmingham area do they?

I've got about a skip full of concrete/bricks from an old base and brick wall that I need to dispose of, but if I could reuse it for hardcore that would be great.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Steve

Sorry I'm a little late into the topic, but I may be able to offer a little help.

I don't personally hire out crushers, but my company manufactures them, and we offer a free online llisting to all our customers wishing to hire out their machines: http://www.bavcrushers.co.uk/hire.htm

From the sound of things, our BAVTRAK 009 micro sounds ideal for the jobs discussed here; it's under 720mm wide, under 950kg and will crush up to 1,500kgs per hour. They're ideal for those jobs around the back of, or inside of properties where access is particularly tricky.

Hope this is a case of better late than never!

please note that the above machine has no conveyor on, so it will just drop the stuff on the ground

You also have to shud the lid to the hopper while it crushes. mine is continuosly crushing, and will do 3 tonne an hour

Correct. The 009 is the only true micro crusher - i.e. Under 720mm operating width and under 1,000kgs - which complies with BS EN 294:1992 safety guidelines.

In very compact sites a conveyor can be as much hindrance (especially for access) as help, since the generally accepted idea is to 'crush and lay', re-using the product on site, rather than stockpiling or loading into skips/barrows for removal. Dust is also minimal.

sorry to bring you to task, but that is not true

Mine will pass through 700mm, and weighs under a tonne.

In the four years of owning and hiring my machine, only twice has the conveyor been removed for convenience.

the conveyor enables you to pile the crushed up prior to spreading with a machine
It also enables you to load a barrow for distributing into an over site for example.
the question i get asked is "does yours have a conveyor?"

"yes"

"good, because the last one we used dodn't and it hindered us!"

different machines. Different jobs

However, the Bavtrak 025 IS the bees knees of crushers, and there is no match for it. Anyone who thinks the red rhino is the best. think again!
it's on my wish list marcus!

I was talking about 710mm working width with the 009 - there are no reach over guards projecting from the sides, which can make all the difference on very small sites.

Mind you, I would rather put your machine onto the site, than most of the other hand-feeds which appear not to have given any thought to safety guards. It only takes one accident to prove their value - what will crush brick and concrete will certainly mangle human hands!

The 009 will take very large chunks for the size of crusher, with a 359 x 315mm feed, it can take whole concrete blocks or half kerbstones and will also cope very well with reinforced material. You can crush reinforced concrete fence posts by breaking them in the middle, folding them, and throwing them into the crusher.

As with all BAVTRAK models, provided the jaws are empty (i.e. no material waiting to be crushed) you can swap crush grade settings in seconds.

I'd agree there is a bit of forward planning required to get the best from a crush-and-lay machine, but once customers are converted, they rarely talk about the need for conveyors. That said, I can obviously see there may be applications where a conveyor proves it's use. For that reason, we can offer an optional conveyor on the 009, but it's never been popular.

thats correct. Its also the only toggle crusher of its size that does not jam up as it has a feed in conveyor.
Another machine that beats the red rhino hands down!
