Has anyone seen, used or heard of a "carbide" blade which can be fitted to a power saw and used to cut through a variety of materials, especially bloody tree roots, read about them in a trade mag in travis perkins and cleverly didn't take a copy with me, I was recovering from shock after asking for a quote of them and had to sit down. I think the blade is supposed to cut most things and my lads keep wrecking me chainsaw, mainly when I'm off site, then putting it back in the van. I don't think I'm making it up!!

From what i know i'm sure carbide blades are used alot by the fire services. Have never tried one myself

makita reciprocating saw works well on tree roots mick,150 blade is best,

i saw a groundworker blade in local bm was about £150 for it, said for tree roots plastic pipe and even showed it cutting a big earthmover tyre. but you could use a cheap metal cutting blade for all of them. we have a wood cutting blade for a cut off (stihl) saw haha quiet scary but makes short work of joists etc.

i bought a blade last year what fits the stihl saw and cuts through roots, tyres and thin metal, I think its called a root ripper

Mine is called a root ripper too it's a top bit of kit but very expensive super handy to have around though. As one direction dulls the other gets sharpened then you switch it round. Great for roots /sleepers and anything with nails in it. GB you're f#cking crazy doing that it will have one of your limbs if not your life one of these days.

i've seen it done, and i admit i have done it myself,in the past. but putting toothed blades in a stihl saw is reckless and and dangerous.

this is a proper one from stihl dealer, its was boxed showing it in a cut off saw, but it doesn't get used that often used it to cut some new french oak sleepers did a good job, no kicks or owt

like the sound of the "Root Ripper", just sounds like something I need to own!! As for the stihl blade you mentioned mate, fair play too ya, spose I could just let me labourer Dave have a go, not the brightest so has no comprehension of danger, we get him to do all the dodgy stuff and then stand well back in case

Never use carbide-tipped, wood cutting or circular saw blades on cut-off machines. They can cause severe personal injury or death from reactive forces, blade contact or thrown tips. Never cut wood of any type.
this is the closest looking to it i can find. 
we have a 355mm makita circular saw which gets used a lot more, think we have only used the wood blade twice.
