putting a quote together for a bitmac drive, we'll do the sub base and edgers then get our surfacing guys in to lay it with their paver.
however the drive is very steep, somewhere like 55% at a guess will that be to steep for a paver from memory its something like a bgp308?

need to get them up obviously to have a look but was just interested haha and thought you boys might know.
plus anyone want to quote on resin bond parking area at the top of the drive or recommend someone. south manchester area.

55% gradient?? Are you sure?
25% is 1 in 4 and that's bloody steep!
BGP308 is a nice mid-sized machine with lot of nice user-friendly bits.

yes thats a typo its about 35% i reckon and is bloody steep, being a rather portly 20 stoner prop it takes a few seconds to recover after walking up it haha

The mahine would lay it (downhill of course) but how would they get the material to the hopper - and keep it in the hopper!
Trucks would never ever be able to reverse up to it.
A 1in4 incline is bloody steep - anything steeper isn't suitable for tarmac. For starters, you'd struggle to roll it any sense.
I'd be interested to see how you get on!

yeah its going to be a bugger, i cant track our 7 ton up in high speed tracking it wont have it thats how steep it is.
its rural as well on a hillside and we get quite a bit of snow and ice have told them it will be lethal in winter, he has a nice shinny m6 haha.
going to reprofile it the best we can to take some of the steepness out, plus it through a low bridge haha just to add to the fun.
quarry we use has one driver/wagon who will come through and they have to back through the bridge as they lift 6 inches after tipping haha
the joys of rural life.

nah, some surfacing company did it with a hired in tracked paver and 10 ton dumper to load it.

Yep, that's the only way they'd have done it - either a double drive wheeled machine or tracked, loaded by dumper.

Is that the Bridgewater canal running above?
The place looks familiar, although where I’m thinking of has a different route in and out, although each just as daft as the other.
And now I start to think about it, where I’m thinking of has little residential and none with steep drives, well none that I can remember.

nope manchester > sheffield train line
