Afternoon all,
Are indespension trailers any good, does anybody have any experience of using them etc ?!
I'm i need of a general purpose trailer with mesh sides that has a loading ramp/ tail in one with a 2600 kg gross and have seen 1 on Ebay for £700 quid.
Can i use these type for loading micro diggers etc, i want it mainly for my ride on mower but it would be handy if i could get a micro on it when needed.
Cheers

Had a few problems with some indespension trailers. Some of the older ones the jockey wheel mounting is fairly fragile, and the tailgate was too short - too steep to reverse an iseki mower up.
Had a newer one at another place which had trouble with the electrical harness. and after a bit of wear, the welds on the mesh on the tailgate comes loose. had a bit of trouble of the wheels locking up occaisionaly.

Ahh right, i suppose all trailers have problems, good 1s and bad 1s in all makes maybe ?
Ideally i would buy Ifor, but they either seem to be a lot more money or they dont have the cage sides, i'm talking plant trailers especially, unless i could maybe add sides at a later date ?

Have a look at Ebay item: 110375793772
Looks a bit better and although it has a buy now of £995 it also has a "make an offer" option !

Seen that trailer yesterday Darren, and while i agree it looks better, its in Nottingham and i'm in deepest darkest Cumbria, takes me over an hour to hit the motorway.
I could always just buy 1 without the sides and add them later maybe ?

I've had a twin axle 2-ton Indespension plant trailer for three years. Works nearly every day and no problems.

Hi Dave
Depends on how much of a rush your in, but sometimes you have to travel a fair bit to get a bargain.
I picked up my Twin axle Ifor plant trailer with mesh sides last year for £585 !
Granted it had a ring hitch (puts the general public off) and it had been painted green (Ex Council) and I had to drive from Manchester to New Market to collect it, but allowed me to get rid of my long wheel based Movano and cut my overheads !
Ohh it cost me £70 for a new locking ball hitch (stops the pikeys unhitching it from the car when left unattended)

I have had indespension trailers for years.
They have gioven me no trouble and have two major benefits over the ifor
1. They have a unique suspension system that means the trailer does not bounce around when unladen.
2. they have a locking hitch that is nigh on impossible to drill out (i have tried once when my mate lost the keys and it was coupled to his truck!) The ifor locks can easily be smashed with a simble whack from a bolster and mallet. And what is more worrying, is that i have heard of someone who had a "Master" key and was able to undo any lock on any ifor trailer, though i have yet to find out if this is true.
As regards to collection on ebay, try shiply.co.uk. Its basically a system where courier companies can bid for your shipments, and can collect often cheaply as they might already be in the area on another job

it does not have a standard indespension coupling on it, which suggests the old one was removed for some reason. seems a bit dodgy

Cheers dig dug dan, that shiply.co.uk jobby could save me a fortune in lost time etc, and i'm glad you said about the suspension as i was worried any trailer would be like a space hopper unladen.
Edgecraft, £585 Seems a very good price, was it sound when you got it ?
