i'm shure i'm correct in saying Tony does not allow the buying and selling of items on this site, as it leads to opening the flood gates to a free for all MSH :)

I'd set a sensible reserve price on both too.

Mixer - what £100 min??

Plate - £250-£300??

Funnily enough, I was thinking of how I could incorporate the EBay section on construction tools into the site, but it seems to be more trouble than it's worth. The Probst block carts are regularly sold for around 250-300 quid, which is a good price for an incredibly useful bit of kit.

However, if any of the regulars want to buy or sell anything, I wouldn't object to the Brew Cabin being used. If we suddenly got all sorts of chancers advertising any owld crap, then I'd clamp down on it and delete those posts.

just a quick note bodgeit
the starting price for the wacker is to high, there are brand new ones on ebay for little more than that i know its a bomag ,i speek from experiance on this as a powersellar with 2400 98.9% feedback i sell plant and equipment, you would be better with a 50 quid start and you will get more people take a chance on it same as the mixer to high starting bid, last auterm i sold a old belle i had for 10 years bought it for 40 quid, sold on ebay with a .99p starting bid for £128 low starting bid gets more interest, even if you put a reserve on it so you don't lose out hope this helps MSH :)

I have to agree with Mark - start low and you attract more interest.

I collect certain items that, shockingly, are completely unconnected to the world of paving. When such an item is first listed, I put it on "Watch", and then monitor it for the next few days before deciding whether to bid. I'm pretty unlikely to put an item on Watch if I think the opening bid is too high and there's nay chance of me getting a bargain.

One such item was recently listed at 99p. 5 days later, it had attracted 20-odd bids and sold for 29.89 (god knows how they came up with that bid!). Had it been originally listed at, say, 20 quid, I certainly wouldn't have put it on my watch list and I suspect several other collectors would have done the same.

Tony, a word about bidding, the usual reason there is a few pence in the bid is because most people bit in round figures but the odd few pence can be a bid winner when the main bidder puts a max bid off say 50 quid but your bid off 50.27 will win on the last minute bid i allways bid in £x+a few pennys,

my best bargin last year a guy listed what he called cable straightners....??? which were actually 45mm grundomat launchers brand new 3 off em,started bid .99p emailed him got em for £12 each retail from tt-uk £187+vat each sold em for £120 each he was happy i was quids in.......MSH :D

I have found over the last couple of years that people are getting a bit more savvy to the e-bay thing with regard to pricing and bidding, but you do still find the odd bargain if you put the time and effort in.

Like MSH my best bargains have been due to poorly described items from clueless sellers, i picked up one brand new piece of trade specific plant last year fo £250 that retails for a minimum £1,200

Hi floejoe, i make my best deals from buying miss discribed items off plant and tools, with work as it is at the moment it keeps things ticking over MSH :)

I find its usually somebody selling an item for a mate or relative who doesn`t have a computor, so the description of said item is poor.

I have a dozen or so searches set up so that if a key word comes up i get an e-mail, 99% of the stuff that shows up is crap but occasionally.BINGO !

MSH i suspect there are some busy times ahead for used and second hand equipment.

P.S i will get around to PM you tomorrow regarding the thrust boring plant
