Hi all & Happy New Year
I haven't been on for a while but saw this whilst browsing the Hot Deals website and thought it might be useful for someone ?
(STARTS: 01/01/2009 EXPIRES: 31/01/2009
was in my local jewsons in anniesland glasgow and found that they were having a tool hire sale in jan. i booked a digger for 150 vat inc del and coll for 1 week and a cemente mixer for only 10 vat for 1 week.)
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item....50-plus
Don't know if it is just the Glasgow Branch or if it is all Jewsons, but it's worth a punt if you need to Hire something !

Indeed; I shudder to think of all the plant that is currently laid up.......
Better to have it out than having it sat in the yard I guess..

Not sure what there doing it for down here (oxford) but you would be lucky to get a 1.5T digger off them for £150 a day a couple of months back. Personally i dont use them at all as i find they are like Tesco. They have everything under the one roof but its neither the best stuff or best price. Were spoilt for choice down here when it comes to B.Ms so im not tied to anyone in particular and shop around, but that is a good deal. But a Dave says its that or just leave it stood. I reckon Jewsons will pull some of there yards out of the hire game as some were never hireing that much stuff out to begin with, but others were doing well. If the economic situation doesnt improve soon, and it doesnt look like it will then i think we will see them pulling in the belt a bit.

Talking of machinery laid idle, Wrekin have left two Komatsu PC240's, a Komatsu 8 tonner, a 3CX and Barford site dumper on our grounds for 6 weeks. That said, they have taken all away today, barring a 240 ad the site dumper.

prices like that are good for contractors, but are killing the small plant hire man like myself, £12000 machine for 100 soff's figures don't add up take the wear and tear off and hours i know its turning money over as long as plant is looked after few dents and scuffs and your outa pocket, why would you give fuel away,6 gallons in a mini on average 64p litre red diesel was 6 weeks ago, delivering for free to more fuel and time
just my thoughts on the subject,

Anybody offering free delivery is either front loading the hire charge or is loosing money hand over fist! Same goes for free diesel! Crazy!

they must be desperate for a hire at that price,£12.5 a day you can hardly get a drill for that price, buisness suicide thay will learn the hard way
2 1/4 years to get capitol cost back before making a bean, excluding service and repair cost so more like 3 years to get cost back by then machine is knackered and made no money.......dumb as a bag of rocks
